When the famous Tour De France passes through your local County attending an event in relation to it is too good an opportunity to miss. Luckily Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and the Yorkshire Cricket Board agreed that we should take Cricket to Le Tour and we spent Stage 1 in Leeds supporting the Spectator Hub at Scothalll Playing Fields at the site of the Caribbean CC and Stage 2 on York Racecourse.
Stage 1
Once the cyclists and their support vehicles had passed through we were joined by hundreds of visitors, many of whom were from the local community around Leeds and had been able to walk to the site.
The Yorkshire Cricket Board were on site to answer the many questions about where the young people could play cricket in the area and our coaches for the day from Pro Coach supplied additional information about forthcoming Summer Camps.
Stage 2
Located opposite the grandstand, Yorkshire Cricket Foundation Museum and ourselves were overlooked by the 25,000 spectators who had been lucky enough to get tickets to enter the course to watch the sponsor vehicles and the peloton start Stage 2 which took them from York through Harrogate and into Sheffield.
We were busy right from opening with many, very competitive, family groups challenging each other in the rig, and then going to have a further cricket challenge on the Cricket Factory Allrounder that the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation had set up just outside the museum. Congratulations to Oliver who won that challenge and will receive a Cricket Factory ‘Mini’ Allrounder next week.
Thank you to the team who worked tirelessly to provide a great experience to everyone who visited us over the two days.
