Sport Pembrokeshire and Golf Development Wales are pleased to announce a Community Sports Project supported by Svitzer UK.
The project will offer people who would not otherwise have had the opportunity, an introduction to golf.
Svitzer UK – which provides tug boats on the Milford Haven waterway – is supporting the project through the sponsorship of Factory Eleven Golfparc equipment.
The equipment will be distributed to golf clubs in the county where it will be used both in the clubs and for outreach work in schools and the local community.
The Factory Eleven Golfparc equipment has been specifically designed to allow people of all ages and all parts of the community access to the sport. It can be used in smaller spaces, urban environments and takes little time and resource to set up.
The community sports project will encourage those that are interested and have enjoyed using the equipment to find out more and take up the game properly.
Alan Jones, Golf Development Officer for Pembrokeshire County Council said: “This equipment is fantastic and will compliment the work that we already deliver within the counties schools and clubs.
“It will provide the perfect progression from the basic introductory activities whilst keeping the focus on learning through fun and enjoyment, which is what it’s all about.”
Andrew Hammond, Towage Manager from Svitzer UK in Milford Haven, said: “It’s great to support a community project like this as many of our crew are enthusiastic golfers and are keen to share their love of golf with the rest of the community. We hope that the equipment encourages many more people to take up the game.”
Svitzer UK is global leader in the world of towage. The company’s tug boats, working out of the Milford Haven waterway, are manned by highly skilled and experienced crews and help ships to berth safely at the petrochemical and LNG facilities.
