As Murray fever sweeps the country, aspiring young tennis stars got their chance to shine when they competed at the Sunderland Tennis Centre on Friday 12th July to win the Tony Blair Sports Foundation Tennis Challenge Cup 2013.

Now in its 6th year, this fantastic competition delivered in partnership with the LTA, the Tennis Foundation and sponsored by On Court magazine has become one of the biggest and most prestigious school competitions in the country.

This year, 1,600 competitors and over 5,000 young children will have experienced tennis in their school environment through this programme.

The competition not only gives youngsters the chance to play and compete in tennis but students who have gone through the TBSF Young Leaders programme also get the chance to put their new skills in action by organising and supporting the event.

The 8 schools finalists, consisting of 4 girls and 4 boys competed in mini tennis matches and a Tennis Factory Rally Station skill circuit with the scores from both put into a table to determine the overall winner.

The Tennis Factory Rally Stations consisting of Rebound Walls, Mini Nets, Micro Nets and Volley Ladders were laid out across one court to create a circuit of activity where rallies were counted, shots were scored and games were timed.
